Meet The Doctor

Dr. Gary Braunstein, DDS

Dr. Braunstein earned his DDS degree from NYU’s College of Dentistry in 1975. After taking a commission to practice dentistry in the US Air Force as a Captain, he settled in Encinitas and opened his dental practice in 1979. He added his Carlsbad location in 2010, and continues to provide dental care for San Diego County residents.

Dr. Braunstein’s nearly 40 years of practice and extensive training in cosmetic dentistry have enabled him to make life-changing smiles a reality for patients like you. “My goal is to offer patients the smiles of their dreams, which can be life-changing. I love getting to know a patient over the course of treatment and see how happy they are with their results.”

Dr. Edithann J. Graham, DMD, MS, Periodontics

Dr. Edithann J. Graham received her bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego in 1994. She went on to the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, where she earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. In 2007, Dr. Graham joined the United States Air Force. She studied Advanced Education in General Dentistry and completed a periodontic residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. In 2008, Dr. Graham began a private practice in San Diego, CA, where she is able to focus on periodontics.

Dr. Graham values continuing education and staying up to date with the latest in dental technology and techniques. She does this by participating in the following organizations:

  • American Dental Association
  • American Academy of Periodontology
  • Academy of Osseointegration
  • California Dental Association
  • San Diego County Dental Society

Dr. Graham is dedicated to giving back to her community through education and medical humanitarian mission work. From 2004-2007, she served as the Director of Periodontics for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the Bolling Air Force Base (Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling) in Washington, DC. Since 2008, she has been a clinical instructor for the dental hygiene program at Southwestern College. Dr. Graham has also traveled to Cambodia, Belize, Nicaragua, and Haiti to do medical mission work.


Dr. James Mahooti, DDS

Dr. Mahooti began his advanced education at Michigan State University in 1978. He earned a degree in biochemistry in 1981 and moved on to Northwestern University, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1985. For the next year, Dr. Mahooti worked as a clinical instructor for the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics at Northwestern University Dental School. He then began working in a private practice in Waterbury, Connecticut.

In 1988, Dr. Mahooti made the big move out west and eventually owned and operated his own dental practice in San Diego, CA. His emphasis has been on CAD/CAM and implant dentistry. In fact, he has earned a fellowship at Misch International Implant Institute and is an alumnus of The Dawson Academy. Dr. Mahooti has acquired proficiency in all aspects of implant dentistry and is a certified trainer in CEREC (CAD/CAM) dentistry.
